Remembering my Kanji Update #3

September 9, 2007

Up to 575 on the kanji list. Found some interesting resources so I can practice on my phone, also geared with a SRS.  Still averaging around 50 a day.. but a bit pressed for pure kanji study due to other commitments.

Day 2 and 3 (of reporting (late (former part (top part) of the post(diary entry)))

September 6, 2007

So, despite a 話すテスト the next day, I got up to 420 on the ‘ol kanji monster. I studied for around 3 hours at マルコスの寮, which proved quite beneficial the next day. Aced that like.. a 3 of a kind.. in poker.. in which all three cards are aces. Seriously aced.

Anyways, I’ll report on this same post how many I got done today.

Mission Start: Remember My kanji

September 4, 2007

I never liked the title of the book being remember the kanji, I like to apply full ownership of these bastards.

I started approximately 4 or 5 study days ago with this book and am at Kanji – 369

A rate of 70 or 80 new kanji a day. The book says never to ignore the ones you know, but I can’t seem to make up stories since they aren’t a series of lines for me, rather represent an idea.

Anyways, I’ll note the progress, trying to post an update each day.. but today being an exception as I have quite a bit of… homework the teacher is in desperate need of.. and I shall attempt to comply.

Update  23:15 —

As my study day was rather compressed due to aforementioned homeworks, I only got up to 395.  I went over a total review of all 395 kanji, as I had accidentally violated every rule of the SRS system (obsessive review of known material)  and remembered 379 or 395 kanji.   Not too terrible.では

Great day

May 10, 2007

Well, not so great if you count being accurate in Japanese… but regardless!  Studied with a group of friends for the first time this… week? month? .. at a time not in the early A.M.  Have some cool plans coming up on Saturday and Sunday I’m pretty excited about as well.  Hope the family is doing well!  I do appreciate the comments you leave, truly!   I’ve been really busy here in Japan so forgive my lack of content on here.

Oh man

May 7, 2007

This is going to be a long day… spent a lot of last night talking to a friend so I’m going to be pretty dead today… Ho ho ho.  Yamasa teachers have been seeing a lot of the Bradley tape recorder-replay function.  And yes, it’s as accurate as it ever was… meaning word order and important facts are completely lost. Hope all of you are doing well! I’m still havin’ a blast here.  I’ll refresh the VM to the branch when I return from school.

The week keeps getting better…

May 7, 2007

I got a letter in the mail today saying…

OH YEAH!

Someone turned in my cellphone to the police.  Wherever you are, いい人さん, you are my best friend forever.

May 7, 2007

So… I didn’t do as well as I wanted to on the test.  On listening I got 50/50 points,  writing 104.5/110 and conversation 40/43 points. Total is 96%… but damnit.. I’m competing with 田さん and that just won’t cut the cake.   Ah well, I think I got a perfect score on this quiz today so that band-aids it a bit.  All. stupid. mistakes.  Forgot a 「ヽ」here and a 「 ゛」there.    I was too creative during the speaking portion so I got counted off on mistakes of material we haven’t covered.  Smart, me.

Too lazy to write anything else.

Quick update, more later

May 6, 2007

Had a fun golden week.  Thursday I ate with Marina-san at a Sushi-ya for the first time.  The Maguro tuna is unbelievably fresh here.  Friday I had a shabu-shabu dinner with the taiwanese folk and friends.   Most excellent.    Saturday I bummed around and on Sunday went out with a  Japanese friend to Nagoya.

Due to the affection I was showing my new cel, my host mother provided me with a miniature chair with padding so that it would enjoy the meals with the family.  Also it was given the name keitai-sama.  Now I can watch TV, record TV, listen to music, GPS, and a whole slue of other things with my new baby.
